Carnagie Library Walk into the Carnegie Library today and you will feel much the same as the residents of Perry felt in 1904. While there are few interior photos of the original library, that which remained was restored, and many clues as to the appearance of the original library were gained from historic photos of other Carnegie libraries in Iowa. The selection of the new furnishings for the library was inspired by those early photos. Every piece from the oak finished desks and Windsor chairs to the card catalogs and newspaper rack replicates a style used in an early Carnegie library. A most beautiful building - inside and out.

![]() Security State Bank Building The old Security Bank Building on the corner of 1st and Willis Avenue is now The Security Bank opened for business in 1914.
In 1917, the city arranged to move its offices to the first floor and eventually purchased the property. As the Municipal Building, it housed city services for 61 years. In 1960 the city jail moved from the firehouse to the building's lower level. Now, beautifully restored to its original Arts and Crafts style, the building will include restoration of the lower-level jail to tell the story of small-town law enforcement. Wolin completed the mechanical package for this historical treasure. All the plumbing, heating, and cooling systems were replaced and updated to adhere to today’s mechanical standards and safety code.

Soumas Court Soumas Court celebrates the people who make Perry a community, past and present.
The Court is named for the son of Greek immigrants, George Soumas, who grew up playing in this alley behind The Majestic Shoe Shop, his parents’ store. Soumas is remembered for his service as a World War II hero, mayor, judge, county attorney, storyteller, and friend. Wolin installed a snow melt system at the Court, which means no more shoveling, plowing, or salting. A snow melt system can actually extend the life of the brick as the freeze-thaw cycle is virtually eliminated.
