1312 Locust Built in 1917, the DS Chamberlain Building used to be home to Taylor Motor Car Company, however today it is newly renovated and will soon be occupied by a restaurant, shops, and office space. With close access to Gateway Park and the new Des Moines Public Library, this building is a stately addition to the western entrance to downtown. Wolin brought the building up to electrical code, updated the HVAC, installed storm piping and performed several MEP upgrades for the tenants.

Carnagie Library Walk into the Carnegie Library today and you will feel much the same as the residents of Perry felt in 1904. While there are few interior photos of the original library, that which remained was restored, and many clues as to the appearance of the original library were gained from historic photos of other Carnegie libraries in Iowa. The selection of the new furnishings for the library was inspired by those early photos. Every piece from the oak finished desks and Windsor chairs to the card catalogs and news-paper rack replicates a style used in an early Carnegie library. A most beautiful building - inside and out. |
